Screening

Digital mental health screening reviewed by your clinician.

About screening

Peridot offers secure digital screening initiated by the care provider using the evidence-based Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7). Invite patients to complete the EPDS through Peridot within 24 hours of their scheduled appointment. Results will be shared with the patient/client and you directly, including psychoeducational resources available on Peridot and community services that are curated to align with their needs and screening results. If the patient/client scores high on the anxiety sub-score of the EPDS, this will be flagged in the screening results and a GAD-7 screening tool is available on Peridot for you to administer during the appointment.

The EPDS and GAD-7 are screening tools and do not provide diagnoses. Clinical assessment and follow-up remain under your direction.

How it works:

  1. 01

Your office or you initiate screening by sending an email link to the patient through Peridot

  2. 02

Patients complete the EPDS digitally (up to 24 hours before an appointment, if scheduled)

  3. 03

Results are sent directly to you and your patient/client

  4. 04

Elevated scores are flagged to you and the GAD-7 questionnaire is made available when needed for you to administer as you deem helpful

  5. 05

Your patient/client and you are provided curated psychoeducational materials and suggested services as part of their screening report. This provides you with easy-to-access resources to discuss with your patient/client as part of their overall perinatal care.

Screening and service referral pathways are integrated and informed by a stepped-care model approach, helping you move from identification to informed next steps in one place.

Additionally, Peridot provides care providers with a dashboard that connects you to information and educational articles that highlight best practices and current Canadian perinatal mental health guidance. These are provided to help inform clinical judgement and assessment. You can also track each patient/client’s results over time, as well as the suggested resources and services to facilitate more effective follow-up at future appointments.
